Well, 2014 has been a good one so far! Both my hubbs and I have been cooking healthy meals and changing our unhealthy holiday eating ways! I have also been looking up different recipes and ideas for future dinners. Expect a few recipe blogs in the near future, delicious ones at that!
So, one of the topics that I would like to discuss, is coffee and caffeine in general. I have always been a huge fan of coffee, so much in fact, that over the years I have increased my intake of coffee, especially after having a baby. I average about 3-4 cups a day now. Yes, I know, this probably seems like a ridiculous amount, which I am realizing now, that it is. I used to be a 1-2 cup a day of coffee kind of gal. The consumption of coffee is now starting to have physical affects on me, such as headaches, agitation, eye twitching…it’s not pretty. SO….it is time to limit and slowly wean myself to just one cup a day. If I could, I would like to limit to 0 cups a day, but not sure if that is possible. I’m afraid I would be one tired mess. Obviously, I can’t just wean myself cold turkey. I tried doing that when I was pregnant and I had some of the worse headaches imaginable. That is, I cut myself off completely for a short while, BAD idea. That quickly changed. So, I have decided to cut down gradually until one cup is good enough.
I know that weaning myself to one cup a day won’t be all that easy. Sometimes I feel so desperate to have “just one more cup” to get through a part of my day. I have thought about it, and came up with a plan. Simply, water, water, water…drink lots of water! This is something that I will be doing a lot more of. Water is something our bodies need to function properly. Not getting enough water, on top of drinking coffee which can dehydrate you even more, can cause premature aging, migraines, allergies, and other complications. The importance of drinking water is so HUGE! I have decided to make drinking water fun by using lemons, and other fruit to flavor up the water. I am excited to see the benefits of drinking more water and less coffee. I promise to write about my results here on my blog.
In other news, our puppy Chloe will be 9 weeks tomorrow! She is growing up so fast, and is the sweetest, most playful puppy! Samuel loves playing with her. Nathan and I are looking into puppy schools for her. Some of the ones that we have looked into around here seem outrageously expensive, so we are looking at other options. Anyways, that is it for now! Hope you all are having a great 2014, and I look forward to talking with y’all later!
